Probe committee formed over mechanical fault in PM’s aircraft

Authorities have formed an investigation committee following a mechanical fault on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying the Prime Minister. The internally constituted committee has also been instructed to submit its report promptly.

The committee was formed through an official order signed on Friday (October 30) by Air Commodore Md. Niamul Kabir, Director of the Administration and Human Resources Directorate of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

The Chief (Planning and Scheduling) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines has been appointed as the committee's chairman. Other members include the Chief Engineer (Engineering Production), Deputy Chief (Flight Safety), and the Manager (Legal Affairs), who will serve as the member secretary.

The committee has been tasked with identifying the actual cause and nature of the aircraft's technical fault, reviewing the measures taken to ensure its airworthiness, and assessing the impact of the incident on flight delays, passenger inconvenience, and the airline's institutional reputation.

Earlier, Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG 377, carrying the Prime Minister and members of his entourage, took off from Japan's Narita International Airport approximately five and a half hours behind schedule due to a technical malfunction.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines' engineering team, along with technicians from Japan, completed the necessary repair work. Following the repairs, the aircraft was pushed back at 7:43 PM Bangladesh time and departed for Bangladesh at 7:55 PM.
