In Tala Upazila of Satkhira, a 19-year-old student named Hridoy took his own life by hanging himself after failing his HSC examination. According to the police and local residents, he took this extreme step due to his poor exam results and intense mental distress.

The tragic incident occurred around 12:00 PM on Saturday (October 31) in South Sarsaa village, located in the Upazila’s No. 1 Dhandia Union. Hridoy was the son of Roichuddin Sardar, a resident of South Sarsaa village.

According to local sources, Hridoy was left devastated after failing to achieve the expected results in the recently published HSC examination. On Saturday afternoon, without his family’s knowledge, he took this fatal decision at his home. His untimely death has cast a pall of deep grief over his family, relatives, and the entire local community.

Following the incident, a suicide note was discovered near the young man’s body. It read:
"I cannot forgive myself for today’s results. My parents sacrificed so much of their own happiness and peace for my sake. I, too, worked very hard for these results. I don’t understand how this happened, perhaps due to a teacher’s error. Please forgive me, Mom and Dad."

Local resident Sheikh Yasin remarked, "The entire village is in a state of shock. A young life has been lost simply because of poor exam results. Hridoy was a very good boy. A note was found beside his body, in which he held his exam results responsible for his decision to end his life."

Confirming the incident, Tofazzal Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Patkelghata Police Station, stated that police arrived at the scene promptly upon receiving the report and recovered the body. Based on the preliminary investigation and the suicide note, it appears to be a case of suicide. Legal proceedings are currently underway, and preparations are being made to register a case of unnatural death (UD) at the police station.
