2,000 march in Tel Aviv calling for Jewish-Arab partnership

Organized following the recent general election, the demonstration saw participants march from Habima Square along Ibn Gabirol Street, concluding at Rabin Square.

Demonstrators beat drums and held placards reading "There is a majority for change" and "Equality for all". Protesters chanted slogans in Hebrew calling for a change in government through equality and partnership, while another section chanted in Arabic demanding peace, freedom, and social justice.

A smaller, similar demonstration was held earlier at Paris Square in Jerusalem.

The rally comes amid ongoing political negotiations after final election results left neither main bloc with an outright majority. Opposition parties seeking to unseat Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu secured 67 seats in the 120-member Knesset. However, that total includes 48 seats held by anti-Netanyahu Zionist parties led by Gadi Eisenkot and 19 seats held by two Arab-led parties.

With the outgoing pro-Netanyahu coalition holding 53 seats, neither Netanyahu nor Eisenkot can form a majority government without reaching across current political alignments, leaving Arab parties positioned to play a pivotal role in deciding the leadership of the next government.
