The Rajshahi Education Board has suspended the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination result of Mehedi Hasan, a student of Ideal College in Belpukuria, after an investigation confirmed allegations that he was given the opportunity to rewrite portions of his answer sheet at an examiner's residence.
Mehedi's results are currently inaccessible on the education board's official website. Confirming the development, Rajshahi Education Board Secretary Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Rouf stated that the allegations were proven true upon investigation, leading to the suspension of his results following prior instructions to the computer cell.
The controversy came to light on September 17 following media reports alleging that Mehedi had written his mobile phone number on his English Second Paper answer script. Following this, Sekendar Ali, an English lecturer at Haji Jamir Uddin Safina Women's Degree College and an examiner, allegedly called Mehedi to his home on August 14 and allowed him to rewrite his answers in exchange for money.
The education board formed a five-member probe committee the same day the report was published. Investigators seized the evaluated answer scripts and discovered clear evidence of tampering. Initial evaluations showed Mehedi received no marks for questions 2 and 4, which were later rewritten and awarded marks at the examiner's home.
The probe committee submitted its report to Board Secretary Professor Dr. Abdur Rouf on October 13, which was subsequently forwarded to the Ministry of Education for further action.
Examiner Sekendar Ali has been permanently banned from evaluating public examination answer sheets, and the board has requested the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) to take disciplinary measures against him.
Board Secretary Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Rouf noted that the Ministry of Education has praised the board's swift investigation and instructed appropriate action. The matter will be reviewed during a meeting of the board's examination discipline committee scheduled for November 2.
