MPO-enrolled teachers and employees are set to stage a sit-in program in front of the National Press Club on November 4, putting forward three core demands.
Demands are: issuance of transfer orders, implementation of salary and allowances according to the 9th national pay scale, and the execution of 100 per cent festival allowances starting from the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
According to a press release issued on Sunday, November 1, by Engineer Md. Abul Bashar, Joint Member Secretary of the alliance, the protest will be held under the banner of the MPO Education Nationalization Aspirants Alliance.
The announcement follows human chains and protest rallies held across more than a hundred upazilas and districts on Saturday in condemnation of a probe notice issued against Principal Delwar Hossain Azizi.
The alliance has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Directorate of Madrasah Education to withdraw the investigation notice against Principal Delwar—who serves as President of the Bangladesh Madrasah Teachers and Employees Forum and Member Secretary of the alliance.
Furthermore, the coalition demanded the immediate removal of the Directorate's Deputy Director (Administration), Md. Shamiul Islam Pramanik, accusing him of misbehaving with and harassing teachers. The alliance warned that continuous sit-in programs will be enforced outside the Madrasah Education Directorate if the demands are not met within the stipulated time.
Probe Formed Over Allegations Against Principal Delwar
The Directorate of Madrasah Education formed a three-member probe committee on October 29 to investigate various allegations brought against Principal Delwar Hossain Azizee. The investigation team is headed by Deputy Director (Training) Md. Chand Mia as convener, with Assistant Director Md. Bulbul Ahmed and Assistant Director Benzir Ahmed serving as members and member secretary, respectively.
The official order stated that Md. Ataur Rahman, a lifelong donor member of Katlasen Kaderia Kamil Madrasah in Mymensingh Sadar upazila, lodged a formal complaint with the Directorate. The charges question Principal Delwar's educational certificates and accuse him of utilizing forged credentials across multiple madrasahs, alongside allegations of financial irregularities, corruption, bribery, and embezzlement.
The committee has been instructed to conduct an on-site investigation and submit its findings to the Director General within five working days, with members authorized to claim travel and daily allowances as per regulations.
