Khulna Jatiotabadi Tati Dal leader hacked to death

Miscreants hacked to death Syed Humayun Kabir, joint convener of the Khulna city unit of Jatiotabadi Tati Dal, behind Rayermohal Boro Mosque in Aranghata Police Station area of Khulna city on Sunday evening.

The attack took place around 6:30PM when Humayun was at his business establishment, Eel Canteen. A group of assailants armed with locally made weapons, ramdas and machetes attacked him, inflicting multiple injuries, including blows to his chest.

Locals rescued him and took him to the emergency department of Khulna Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

A local source claimed that the killing stemmed from a dispute over money owed for a refrigerator purchased on credit. According to the source, four youths visited Humayun's business establishment to collect the money in the afternoon. An argument broke out, and they left. The same youths later allegedly returned with sharp weapons and attacked him. The claim has not been independently verified.

Khulna Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (North) Sudarshan Kumar Roy said police reached the scene after receiving information, collected details from locals and launched an investigation. He added that a drive was underway to arrest those involved.

Abu Said, convener of the Khulna city unit of Tati Dal, confirmed that Humayun Kabir was the unit's joint convener.
