Kylian Mbappe scored from the penalty spot as Real Madrid cruised to a 3-0 victory over Racing Santander, with Jude Bellingham and Yan Diomande also finding the net.

Real Madrid started aggressively in their La Liga clash at El Sardinero Stadium on Sunday, November 1. Mbappe opened the scoring in the 11th minute, converting a penalty after a collision with Mateo Prato inside the box.

The French forward had been in the spotlight in recent days following his second-place finish in the Ballon d'Or voting and a controversial video involving former Chinese leader Mao Zedong that circulated on social media. Although Mbappe later apologised, the controversy continued, with Chinese state television reportedly not broadcasting Spanish league matches this week.

On the pitch, however, Real Madrid showed little sign of distraction. Bellingham doubled the lead after receiving a precise pass from Arda Guler and finishing past the goalkeeper. The goal marked his 50th across all competitions since joining Real Madrid in 2023.

Yan Diomande extended the advantage with a powerful strike from the edge of the box, putting Madrid firmly in control.

Real continued to create chances after the break, with Mbappe hitting the post and Bellingham being denied by the home goalkeeper. Santander were awarded a penalty late in the match following a handball by Aurelien Tchouameni, but the decision was overturned after a VAR review. Bellingham also had a goal ruled out for offside in stoppage time.

The defeat was Santander's first home loss of the season. The club, back in La Liga after 14 seasons, remain 16th in the standings.

The victory leaves third-placed Real Madrid three points behind league leaders Barcelona and extends their winning streak across all competitions to six matches. They are also one point ahead of city rivals Atletico Madrid, who defeated Levante 2-0.
