Two oil tankers exploded after striking sea mines in the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz on Sunday (November 1), while another commercial vessel sustained damage from an unidentified object amid escalating regional conflict.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy of Iran claimed that the two oil tankers exploded when they hit mines anchored in the waterway while attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz through unauthorized routes.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported receiving a Mayday distress call from the captain of a commercial vessel, stating that another ship had been damaged by an unidentified object in the strait.

The latest incidents follow an attack on Friday (October 30) targeting a Qatari liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker operating in Gulf waters, according to Qatar News Agency.

The affected vessel, named Al-Mayeda and owned by Qatar Gas Transport Company, was struck by an unidentified object while navigating the waterway.

Qatari state media confirmed that no crew members were injured in Friday's attack, no environmental damage occurred, and the gas transport company verified that the ship remains safe and seaworthy.
