A joint operational team of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the Special Response Battalion (SRB) detained four individuals alongside 129,600 Yaba tablets during a drive in the Naf River border area of Teknaf, Cox's Bazar.
Assistant Superintendent of Police A. M. Faruk, Media Officer of SRB-15 Cox's Bazar, confirmed the recovery, adding that an engine-driven wooden fishing boat used for drug trafficking was also seized along with two mobile phones.
The detainees have been identified as Abdul Khalek (25), Nur Faysal (25), and Mijanur Rahman (24)—all residents of Uttar Jaliapara in Teknaf Sadar—and Hafez Ahammad (29), a resident of Rohingya Camp-14 in Ukhia.
The joint drive was carried out on Sunday, (November 1) by a team comprising SRB-15 (CPC-1 Teknaf Camp) and Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB).
The team intercepted the suspects near the banks of the Naf River adjacent to Gafur Member’s project area, approximately 1 kilometre south of Border Pillar BRM-5 in Ward No. 8 of Teknaf Sadar Union.
When the suspects attempted to flee the scene, the security team chased and apprehended all four individuals. A subsequent search of the site led to the recovery of 129,600 pieces of Yaba tablets hidden onboard the engine-driven wooden boat.
