Ed Sheeran collaborates with two Bengalis in Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘King’

For Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s 61st birthday, the first song from his upcoming film, ‘King’, has been released. 

Titled "Tu Mil Jaaye," the track features both Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. A major highlight of the song is the collaboration between British singer Ed Sheeran, Arijit Singh, and Madhubanti Bagchi, which has generated significant interest among the audience.

Shah Rukh Khan unveiled the song on social media at midnight on Monday (November 2). The track showcases romantic moments between Shah Rukh and Deepika, interspersed with intense action sequences, showing the "King" himself engaged in hand-to-hand combat and gunfire with adversaries. Towards the end, Shah Rukh is heard saying, "And now, there is a fire in the heart; it won't stop until it has set the world ablaze."

Undoubtedly, this song serves as a gift from Shah Rukh to his fans. On social media, he wrote, "Moments of love are reserved for the lucky, where roses bloom even amidst the scent of gunpowder. A story of love and other battles... coming this December."

While the song has garnered attention, it has elicited mixed reactions from the audience. Many have praised the chemistry between Shah Rukh and Deepika, as they often do. Others, however, have noted that the visual style of the song bears a resemblance to Shah Rukh’s previous films, ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’.

Nevertheless, many fans are thrilled to see these artists come together. One fan commented, "Ed Sheeran, Shah Rukh, Deepika, and Arijit Singh in a single frame, this isn't just a collaboration; it’s a recipe for a massive hit." Another remarked, "The King is always the King." Others expressed particular excitement about Arijit Singh and Ed Sheeran singing together.

It is worth noting that Arijit Singh hails from Murshidabad, while Madhubanti Bagchi, a popular artist from Balurghat, West Bengal, has also gained recognition, including her participation in ‘Coke Studio Bangla’ (Bangladesh).

Directed by Siddharth Anand, ‘King’ marks the sixth collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. The film also features Abhishek Bachchan and Suhana Khan. Rani Mukerji, Raghav Juyal, Arshad Warsi, and Jaideep Ahlawat play significant roles. The movie ‘King’ is scheduled for theatrical release on December 24.
