Snatching Turns Dhaka into a City of Fear

Letter To the Editor
Dear Sir,

Dhaka is not only the capital of Bangladesh but also a place of dreams for more than three crore people. Every day, people from all walks of life, including students, businesspeople, lawyers, government employees and doctors, leave home early to go to work or attend to their daily responsibilities. Sadly, snatching has become a growing source of fear and anxiety among city dwellers.

From narrow alleyways, footpaths and foot overbridges to main roads, highways and even areas in front of the National Parliament House, incidents of snatching occur across the city. The growing drug problem, teenage gangs and unemployment are among the major factors behind this alarming situation.

I urge the government and local administration to take effective measures to curb snatching and ensure public safety. Dhaka should be a safe and peaceful place for everyone who lives and works here.
