DSCC starts e-rickshaw registration Tuesday

The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will distribute application forms for e-rickshaw registration from Tuesday (November 3), charging Tk 100 per form.

Forms will be available at Nagar Bhaban and all regional offices of the DSCC.

The registration process will follow the *Three-Wheeled Low-Speed Battery-Powered Rickshaw (E-Rickshaw) Operation Rules, 2026*, issued by the Local Government Division.

Speaking at a press briefing on Monday, DSCC Administrator Md Abdus Salam said the initiative aims to bring discipline to e-rickshaw operations, reduce traffic congestion and ensure safer roads.

Applicants must submit an attested copy of their NID, two recent passport-sized photographs, the original fee receipt and a fitness certificate.

All vehicles must meet the technical and safety standards set by the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and obtain its clearance before registration.

An individual can apply to register a maximum of five e-rickshaws against one NID. However, submitting an application does not guarantee registration.

The DSCC also plans to divide its area into four zones to determine routes and control the number of e-rickshaws in coordination with traffic police and other stakeholders.
