Rajshahi University (RU) has finalised the schedule for undergraduate admission tests for the 2026-27 academic session, with the examinations set to begin on January 8.
The university has also taken an initial decision to lower the minimum GPA requirements for applicants from the humanities and science groups in view of this year’s HSC results.
The decisions were made at the first meeting of the university’s admission test committee on Sunday (November 1). Professor Dr Md Belal Hossain, dean of the Faculty of Arts, confirmed the matter on Monday night.
According to the schedule, the admission test for Unit B (Business Studies) will be held on January 8, followed by Unit C (Science) on January 9 and Unit A (Humanities) on January 16.
Online applications will be accepted from November 12 to November 27.
Under the proposed eligibility criteria, applicants from the humanities group must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 in both SSC and HSC examinations, including the fourth subject, with a combined GPA of at least 6.50.
Last year, the minimum combined GPA requirement for this group was 7.00.
For science group applicants, the minimum GPA requirement is 3.50 in each examination, with a combined GPA of at least 7.00. The combined GPA requirement was 7.50 in the previous academic year.
However, the eligibility criteria for business studies applicants have yet to be finalised. The university may also relax the requirements for this group, Professor Belal Hossain said.
He said the comparatively poor HSC results this year had prompted the committee to consider easing the eligibility requirements for humanities and science students.
“The committee has taken the preliminary decision considering this year’s HSC results and to ensure that prospective students are not disadvantaged,” he said.
He added that the dates recommended earlier by the admission subcommittee had been retained. Further details and other admission-related decisions will be discussed at subsequent meetings.
