The hearing on the further investigation report in the murder case of Sharif Osman Hadi, founder and spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha, is set to take place on Tuesday, (November 3) after a 37-day gap since the last scheduled court appearance on September 27.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Police, currently handling the re-investigation, is scheduled to submit its progress report before the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Joshita Islam.

Meanwhile, Inqilab Mancha has issued a firm deadline to the government, demanding the complete judicial trial of Hadi’s murder be finalized by December 18. Leaders of the organization warned of launching nationwide tough agitations if their three-point demand, centered on justice for the slain leader, is not met within the stipulated timeframe.

According to court and prosecution records, the submission of the further investigation report has already been deferred 20 times.

The case was initially investigated by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch (DB), which submitted a charge sheet on January 6 naming 17 individuals, including primary accused Faisal Karim Masud and former ward councillor Taijul Islam Chowdhury Bappi. The DB report cited political rivalry and an attempt to disrupt the 13th National Parliamentary Election as key motives.

During the ongoing CID probe, key suspect Faisal Rubel Ahmed—a close associate of primary accused Faisal Karim Masud—was arrested and placed on a 12-day remand across two phases, during which he delivered a confessional statement before a metropolitan magistrate before being sent to prison.

According to the case statement, Sharif Osman Hadi was shot by motorcycle-borne miscreants on December 12, 2025, near the Box Culvert area under Paltan Police Station while returning from election campaigning.

Hadi was initially rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, transferred to Evercare Hospital, and later airlifted to Singapore on December 15 for advanced care, where he succumbed to his injuries on December 18. An attempted murder case filed on December 14 by Abdullah Al Jaber was subsequently converted into a murder charge.

Marking the build-up to the December 18 deadline, Inqilab Mancha activists are currently carrying out a nationwide 'March for Insaf' from Tetulia to Teknaf. Party leaders are holding street rallies across the country, with demonstrations scheduled this day (November 3) in Khagrachhari, including Ramgarh, Matiranga, and the local Hadi Chattar.
