Administrative authorities have reinforced security measures across Gazipur's industrial belt, deploying 11 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and 25 executive magistrates to prevent potential disruptions following recent garment worker protests.
The administration increased the paramilitary footprint from 10 platoons on Monday to 11 platoons on Tuesday (November 3), while expanding the team of executive magistrates from 21 to 25.
BGB personnel led by executive magistrates are carrying out patrol and security duties across key strategic points within the industrial zone, confirmed Assistant Commissioner Md Arif Hossain from the Gazipur Deputy Commissioner's office on Tuesday.
District administration sources indicated that the decision to bolster security forces was taken to safeguard industrial facilities and maintain public order following wage-related labor disputes.
No road blockades or street demonstrations were reported along major highways or regional roads in Gazipur on Tuesday morning, with workers seen entering factories peacefully to resume duties.
