The Kaliakair upazila administration has warned house and flat owners against sheltering outsiders or suspected criminal gang members, urging them to promptly inform law enforcement agencies if any such individuals are found staying with their tenants.
A public notice was jointly issued by the Kaliakair Municipality and the upazila administration on Monday.
According to the notice, landlords have been asked to inform Kaliakair Police Station or the upazila administration if their tenants accommodate outsiders beyond their family members or if members of criminal gangs rent and stay in their properties.
The notice also warned that landlords would be held responsible if any untoward incident occurred after they failed to report such activities. Describing the matter as "extremely urgent", the administration urged property owners to remain vigilant.
Speaking about the initiative, UNO HM Fakhrul Hossain said the notice was issued to prevent outsiders from taking advantage of the ongoing workers' movement to create instability and to avert any untoward incidents.
