Garment workers continued protests in Savar and Ashulia on Tuesday, demanding a minimum monthly wage of Tk 30,000 and an end to illegal blacklisting.

Two cases have been filed with Ashulia Police Station over vandalism and arson, while another is being processed in Savar. Police have detained 13 people.

The officers-in-charge of the two police stations confirmed the developments around noon on Tuesday (November 3).

Workers staged protests in Nischintapur, Narshinghpur and Unique areas along the Abdullahpur-Baipail road. They threw bricks and stones at police when officers tried to clear the road. Police responded by firing tear gas.

Around 40 factories declared holidays amid the unrest, while workers at 10 others stopped work and stayed inside, said Industrial Police-1 SP Mohammad Mominul Islam Bhuiyan.
