Biman Bangladesh Airlines will restart flights between Dhaka and Dammam from November 7, while services on the Dhaka-Riyadh route will remain suspended until further notice following security concerns over Houthi attacks on Saudi airports.
In a statement on Tuesday (November 3), the national flag carrier said it would operate daily daytime flights on the Dhaka-Dammam-Dhaka route from Saturday, considering passenger safety and the overall security situation.
However, flights on the Dhaka-Riyadh-Dhaka route will remain suspended due to insufficient passenger demand, as many travellers are taking alternative routes to Saudi Arabia.
Biman advised passengers to contact its nearest sales centres for ticketing and travel-related information.
Meanwhile, the Houthi attacks have disrupted 165 flights from Dhaka, affecting 22,917 passengers, according to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport authorities.
Of the cancelled or suspended flights, 88 were direct services and 77 were transit flights. Biman cancelled 41 direct flights, US-Bangla Airlines 10, Saudia 21 and Riyadh Air 16.
Among transit services, IndiGo cancelled 30 flights, Emirates 14, Qatar Airways nine, flydubai and Air India eight each, SalamAir seven and EgyptAir one.
