Narayanganj MP, police on alert to avert further clash

Law enforcement agencies are on high alert in Narayanganj as garment workers tried to take on street on Wednesday morning.

The protesters tried to gather in the Katheer area under Fatullah Police Station in Sadar upazila this morning to block the Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road, but members of BGB and police prevented them from reaching the highway.

According to eyewitnesses, additional police forces were deployed in the area from 9AM. Around 10:30AM, workers attempted to move towards the link road to enforce a blockade, but they failed to do so.

Narayanganj-2 lawmaker Nazrul Islam Azad, senior administration officials, police authorities and BNP leaders visited different areas to avert further clash.
