MCG names stand for Mustafizur fans

Melbourne Renegades have announced plans to name a dedicated section of the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) ‘Fizz Bay’ to bring Bangladeshi cricket fans together to support pacer Mustafizur Rahman during the upcoming Big Bash League season.

The initiative follows the franchise’s decision to sign Mustafizur for the next BBL season. The first 200 family ticket bookings for the designated section will receive a 50 per cent discount, allowing supporters to watch the matches together.

Renegades general manager Max Abbott announced the plan on Wednesday while confirming the signing. He said the franchise was excited to have one of the world’s leading T20 fast bowlers and wanted to celebrate his arrival by creating a dedicated space for his supporters at the MCG.

The section will initially occupy a designated part of the gallery, with the franchise considering expanding it if demand increases. Fans will be able to attend wearing Bangladesh’s Tigers jerseys or Renegades apparel.
