EC issues fresh guidelines for upcoming UP elections

The Election Commission (EC) has directed field-level officials to recheck the list of election-ready union parishads (UPs), identify omissions and verify information on boundary disputes and legal complications ahead of the upcoming polls.

In a letter sent to all district election officers on Wednesday (November 4), EC Deputy Secretary Mohammad Monir Hossain asked them to submit necessary corrections, including updates on pending cases and voter list rearrangements, by November 8.

The EC is planning to hold the first phase of voting on January 21, with the schedule likely to be announced on December 10. The elections are expected to take place in five phases.
