Arrest warrant issued against Pori Moni

A Dhaka court on Wednesday issued an arrest warrant against actress Pori Moni after cancelling her bail in a case filed by businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud over allegations of assault, vandalism and intimidation.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahfuzur Rahman passed the order after Pori Moni failed to appear before the court on the scheduled date for witness testimony. Her lawyer sought an adjournment, stating that she could not attend due to an allergy-related illness. However, accepting the complainant’s plea, the court cancelled her bail and issued the arrest warrant.

Earlier, on January 26 last year, the court framed charges against Pori Moni and ordered the commencement of the trial. An arrest warrant was issued at the time, but she later surrendered and secured bail.

In 2024, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) submitted a report finding evidence of the allegations against Pori Moni and her costume designer, Junaid Bogdadi Jimmy alias Jim. However, no evidence was found against another accused, Fatema Tuz Jannat Boni.
