Gold prices in the domestic market have registered another sharp increase, with the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) hiking the price of high-quality 22-carat gold jewelry by 5,482 BDT per bhori (11.664 grams), inclusive of VAT.
Following the adjustment, one bhori of 22-carat gold jewelry now stands at 2,29,664 BDT including VAT, up from the previous rate.
The updated rates came into effect from 10:00AM on Thursday (November 5), driven by a rise in the price of pure gold (tejabi gold) in the local market.
The decision was finalized during a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring on Thursday, according to a press release signed by committee Chairman Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen. Prices of silver, however, remain unchanged.
The latest adjustment marks the third consecutive upward revision in gold prices within a week, following hikes on November 2 and November 4. Over the three phases, the price of 22-carat gold has risen by a cumulative 12,072 BDT per bhori.
Under the revised pricing structure, 21-carat gold jewelry has been increased by 5,249 BDT to reach 2,19,342 BDT per bhori.
The price of 18-carat gold jewelry has risen by 4,491 BDT to 1,88,374 BDT per bhori, while traditional method gold jewelry has increased by 3,616 BDT to 1,53,848 BDT per bhori.
Prior to Thursday's adjustment, 22-carat gold was priced at 2,24,182 BDT per bhori, following a 3,324 BDT increase effective from 1:45PM on November 4, which remained active until 9:59AM on Thursday.
Meanwhile, silver prices remain steady across all categories. Including VAT, 22-carat silver jewelry stands at 3,499 BDT per bhori, 21-carat silver at 3,383 BDT per bhori, 18-carat silver at 2,916 BDT per bhori, and traditional method silver at 2,216 BDT per bhori.
