Pori Moni appears in court, seeks bail

Actress Pori Moni appeared at a Dhaka court on Thursday (November 5), a day after a warrant was issued for her arrest in a case filed over assault, vandalism and intimidation.

She arrived at the Dhaka Judicial Magistrate Court premises on Thursday morning and is expected to seek bail in the case, court sources said.

She was seen waiting inside a white car near the court with several members of her personal security team.

On Wednesday (November 4), Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahfuzur Rahman cancelled her bail and issued the arrest warrant after she failed to appear for a scheduled hearing.

Her lawyer sought an adjournment, citing her illness due to allergies. However, the plaintiff's side also sought cancellation of bail, following which the court issued the order.

The case was filed on July 6, 2021, by businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud, former president of the Boat Club, against Pori Moni and two others over an alleged incident at the club in Savar on June 9 that year.

In 2024, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) submitted an investigation report finding evidence against Pori Moni and her costume designer, while clearing the third accused, Fatema Tuz Jannat Bony.
