The memorial pillar of the “36 July” stage in Chandpur was set on fire by unidentified individuals on Friday (November 6) at approximately 1:45 AM.

According to local sources, the incident took place at the memorial pillar of the “36 July” stage, built on the premises of the Shaheed Minar in the town. The incident was reportedly recorded on video by unidentified individuals, and the footage was subsequently shared on social media. The video quickly went viral, sparking widespread concern.

After local residents learned about the incident, they alerted the Fire Service. Firefighters arrived at the scene and brought the blaze under control.

Locals said, burn marks were visible on various parts of the stage’s memorial pillar and its platform.

However, the identities of those involved and the motive behind the arson were not immediately known.

Abdullah Mamun, Deputy Assistant Director of Chandpur Fire Service, said that the fire was started by burning tyres at the memorial pillar of the “36 July” stage.

He added that the fire service team reached the scene and brought the fire completely under control within 15–20 minutes.
