Zaker Party to field candidates in upcoming local government elections

Zaker Party has announced plans to participate extensively in the upcoming local government elections, with party Chairman Mostafa Amir Faisal directing leaders to thoroughly scrutinise prospective candidates for mayoral, chairman and member posts before selecting honest, competent and suitable individuals.

He made the announcement at a central organisational meeting of the party held at its central office in Banani on Friday (November 6).

Mostafa Amir Faisal presided over the meeting while party's Senior Vice-Chairman and economist Dr Sayem Amir Faisal, Secretary General Shamim Haider, Joint Secretary General Murad Hossain Jamal and Press Secretary Kazi Md Rashidul Hasan Rashed, along with several thousand central, district and metropolitan-level leaders attended.

The party chairman instructed the concerned leaders to collect and verify detailed information about those aspiring to contest the local government elections to ensure that deserving and honest candidates receive party nominations.

At the meeting, Faisal also announced that the party's World Islamic Grand Conference and the Holy World Urs Sharif would be held from January 23 to 26, 2027.

Referring to the prevailing global situation, he warned that the world was moving towards a possible world war and that the use of nuclear weapons could bring human civilisation to the brink of destruction. He also expressed concern over the growing threat of natural disasters across the globe.

Against this backdrop, he called upon people from all walks of life to attend the four-day religious gathering organised by Zaker Party, seeking Allah's blessings and promoting national unity amid the complex geopolitical challenges facing the world.

He said national unity was essential to safeguarding Bangladesh's independence and sovereignty and ensuring the country's development in the current international and domestic circumstances.

Faisal also called for establishing national unity under the leadership of Zaker Party, considering the overall situation in the country.
