Jerika Tasnim Disha, arrested in the murder case over the death of former Bangladesh Air Force Flight Lieutenant KM Tahsif Sauri, has been sent to jail after completing two rounds of remand.

On Friday, investigation officer Inspector Firoz Uddin of the Tongi River Police Outpost produced Disha before a court and sought an order to keep her in custody after the remand periods ended.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Islam Junaid ordered her to be sent to jail. The investigation agency told the court that Disha had provided important information during interrogation.

Prosecution Sub-Inspector Saiful Islam confirmed the development, adding that no bail petition had been filed on Disha’s behalf.

According to the investigation officer’s petition, Disha told investigators that she had visited Nest Bar and Restaurant in Uttara with Tahsif on the night of October 27, before his death. They had also spent time together earlier that evening and travelled to different places on Tahsif’s motorcycle.

The petition said investigators were verifying several pieces of information provided by Disha. It also alleged that she had avoided answering some questions during interrogation.

Investigators said they had cross-checked her statements with those of another suspect, Ahmed Shahriar Reza Dip, a junior friend of Tahsif who is also in police custody on remand. They also found evidence of multiple phone calls between Disha and Tahsif after reviewing his call records.

The investigation officer said preliminary findings indicated Disha’s possible involvement in the case and that further investigation was necessary. The petition also argued that her release on bail could allow her to go into hiding and obstruct the investigation.

Disha was arrested in the capital’s Kafrul area on November 1. The court initially granted four days of remand and later approved a further three days on Wednesday.

Dip was placed on remand for four days on October 31, followed by three days on Tuesday and another three days on Thursday.

Tahsif’s body was recovered by River Police from Rajabari Ghat in Turag on the afternoon of October 28. He had left his home on his motorcycle on the evening of October 27 after Dip called him downstairs.
