The BNP will hold a colourful rally in the capital, Dhaka, marking National Revolution and Solidarity Day. Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will inaugurate the rally scheduled for November 7.

BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi disclosed the information while speaking to journalists at the party's central office in Nayapaltan on Friday.

He said rallies would be held in most districts and metropolitan cities across Bangladesh tomorrow, November 7, marking National Revolution and Solidarity Day. In Dhaka, the central rally will begin in front of the party's central office in Nayapaltan. The rally will set off after Prime Minister Tarique Rahman delivers his inaugural speech.

The rally will start from Nayapaltan and proceed via the area in front of the Chief Justice's official residence in Kakrail, Hotel InterContinental intersection, Banglamotor and Farmgate before concluding at Manik Mia Avenue.

Rizvi said that before the rally, at 8:30 am, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, along with senior party leaders, would pay tribute by placing wreaths at the graves of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.

He also said that, alongside the central programme, various BNP affiliated and associate organisations would  organise different programmes, including discussion meetings and photographic exhibitions.

Rizvi said that the BNP's Dhaka North and South metropolitan units, along with its affiliated and associate organisations, were working to make the central rally a success. A stage is being constructed in front of the party's central office in Nayapaltan, from where the Prime Minister will inaugurate the central rally.

The BNP has already announced a week-long programme marking National Revolution and Solidarity Day.

National Revolution and Solidarity Day commemorates the November 7, 1975 soldier-people uprising that ended a turbulent chain of coups and freed Major General Ziaur Rahman from captivity. Emerging from political chaos and external conspiracies, soldiers and civilians joined in mass processions, chanting unity slogans and embracing in the streets. The movement, which toppled Brigadier Khaled Mosharraf’s short-lived coup, became a symbol of national unity and a turning point in reasserting Bangladesh’s distinct identity.
