Bomb-like object recovered from MP Aziz's rally venue in Natore

Police recovered a suspicious bomb-like object from the venue of a public rally organised by supporters of Natore-4 MP Abdul Aziz in Gurudaspur on Sunday.

The object was recovered from the field of Gurudaspur Government Pilot High School on Sunday afternoon, a day after a rally was held there marking National Revolution and Solidarity Day on November 7.

Gurudaspur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sirajul Islam said police recovered the suspicious object after receiving information.

He said an investigation was underway to determine what the object was and why it had been placed there. Police could not confirm its nature until the investigation was completed.

Additional police personnel have been deployed and security measures taken to maintain order in the area, he added.

The rally was organised by supporters of MP Abdul Aziz at the school field on November 7, with the lawmaker attending as the chief guest.

Earlier, police arrested Nuruzzaman Mintu, son of Abdul Aziz, in connection with the murder of Chhatra Dal leader Shakil. He was subsequently taken on remand twice for questioning.

The recovery of the suspicious object from the rally venue has created concern among local residents.
