The BNP has announced a new partial convening committee for its Dhaka South unit, appointing Abdus Salam as convener and Tanvir Ahmed Robin as member secretary, as the party prepares to expand the committee further.
The four-member committee, announced on Sunday, also includes Abdul Qadir Bhuiyan Jewel as senior joint convener and ANM Saiful Islam as joint convener.
Party sources said Ishraque Hossain, Nabiullah Nabi, Liton Mahmud and Mosharraf Hossain Khokon were being considered for additional joint convener posts, while Mukta was under consideration for office secretary.
However, the party has yet to make any formal announcement on their inclusion.
The latest leadership reshuffle follows a series of changes in the Dhaka South unit.
The names were announced in a notice signed by BNP Assistant Office Secretary Muhammad Munir Hossain. The notice did not specify who would fill the remaining positions.
On June 13, 2024, the BNP dissolved the previous convening committee led by Abdus Salam. On July 7 that year, it announced a two-member partial committee, appointing Rafiqul Alam Majnu as convener and Tanvir Ahmed Robin as member secretary.
