An ill fated mother was
slaughtered to death by her young son at Faridganj upazila in Chandpur district on Friday afternoon.
The incident took place at Ichapur village under Paikpara South union in the upazila.
The deceased Ranu Begum, 55, was wife of Atar Khan, a resident of the village, and mother of three daughters and two sons.
According to the victim's husband Atar Khan, the accused and their youngest son Rasel, 22, returned home and used to live with them after being fired from his job in Dhaka. He (Rasel) had been demanding to be get married for past few days. He also threatened the parents for life several times over the matter.
"Rasel called me over phone around 2.49pm on Friday and said that someone slaughtered my wife to death," said Atar Khan.
Being informed, he (Atar Khan) rushed there and found Ranu Begum's slaughtered body which was fallen on the bed, he said.
After hearing screams of the victim's husband, locals rushed there and informed police.
Faridganj Police Station officer-in-charge Md Saidul Islam said that police recovered the body from the spot and sent to a hospital morgue for autopsy.
Since the incident, the accused Rasel went into hiding and efforts are on to arrest him, added the police official.
