
Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) appointed Shafiullah Al Munir, the Vice-President of Bangladesh Hockey Federation, as Chairman of its newly-formed Event Strategy & Development Committee on Monday.
The new committee will be responsible for creating innovative events with an aim to enhance the growth of hockey in the Asia.
From AHF, it was said that the committee will work to revolutionize the sport in Asia with innovative approach to make tournaments more appealing for the viewers.
Munir will also take up new responsibility of an advisor to the AHF and ensure the governing body's events portfolio is further improvised. Under the guidance of this new Committee, new events that meet the requirements of global broadcasters and other stake holders will be introduced in the continent.
Besides, AHF hopes to see the Committee aids providing top-level coaches and technical assistance in developing countries that have keen interest in promoting hockey.
The AHF Event Strategy & Development Committee will oversee the infrastructure in hockey playing nations with special focus on developing countries to leverage the potential of hosting big-ticket events and reach primary requirements in executing an event of greater magnitude.
AHF Chief Executive Tayyab Ikram said at a dinner during the Men's Asia Cup Hockey 2017 on Monday, "I believe AHF Event Strategy and Development Committee will come up with innovative events that will further improve the participation of hockey playing nations in Asia as well as attract bigger audience for the game."
