Bringing allegation of massive irregularities in the 11th parliamentary election, Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) demanded judicial investigation in the allegation.
The anti-graft watchdog came up with the allegation while revealing a report at a press conference on Tuesday.
TIB claimed that while surveying in 50 constituencies during the election, it found irregularities in 47 seats.
These include indiscipline, discrimination and casting fake votes were seen in different centres.
And even, the role of the Election Commission was not impartial, it said.
“Election Commission could not play its role neutrally in the election.
It failed to ensure a level-playing field and safety of the candidates of
all political parties,” said Dr Iftekharuzzaman, Executive Director of
TIB.
“Candidates faced discriminations while the Chief Election Commissioner was also biased,” he added.
According to TIB survey fake votes were cast in 82 percent constituencies. Besides, ballots were stamped in 66 percent constituencies before the election night and irregularities occurred in 94 percent constituencies, it found.
