Terming Transparency International Bangladesh’s (TIB) report on 11th parliamentary election as ‘baseless’, Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda on Wednesday rejected the report.
“The report is baseless. We are rejecting it. No media outlet published any report on polls irregularities,” said the CEC.
CEC Huda told reporters after a programme at Election Training Institute in the city's Agargaon area.
TIB on Tuesday published the report after surveying 50 constituencies where irregularities were found in 47 seats. These include indiscipline, discrimination and casting fake votes at different centres.
UNB adds: About the criticism of the EC's role by TIB, the CEC said, "These are indecorous and inappropriate. It shouldn't have said these."
He, however, said the commission will not take any step against such remarks.
Claiming that no such election irregularity take place, he said the EC gleaned information from media, its own officials, electoral inquiry committees and magistrates.
The CEC said there is no authenticity of the allegations brought by TIB.
