
PIROJPUR, Dec 24: Ahead of the National Election-2024, vote campaign is going on in the district ignoring cold weather.
A total of 19 candidates are contesting in three constituencies of the district. On an average, more than six candidates are taking part in the election from different political parties.
From Pirojpur-2 (Bhandaria-Kawwkhali-Nesarabad), seven candidates are contesting.
Running MP and former minister Anwar Hossain Monju (Chairman-JP) and 14-party alliance nominated candidate, is contesting with (Boat symbol). Md Mohiudin Maharaj, Joint Secretary of district AL and former Zilla Parishad chairman and administrator, is contesting as independent candidate (Eagle).
Five others are: Md Abul Bashar of National Peoples Party (Mango), Mohammad Mahtab Uddin Mahbub of Gono Front (Fish), Md Zakir Hussain of Bangladesh Tarikat Federation (BTF-Fulermala), Moha Mizanur Rahman (Syed Monir) of Bangladesh Supreme Party (Ektara) and Md Sagir Mia of Bangladesh Congress (Green Coconut ).
Vital candidate Anwar Hossain Monjus chief election coordinator Mejbaha Uddin said, "We are working hard to reach every corner and every voters of the constituency. We are confident to win the election.
We urge voters to cast vote for Boat, for Sheikh Hasina. Election environment is good. Local administration is working for conducting a free fair election."
Maharajs chief election coordinator Abdullah Masud said, "All public representatives including three upazila chairmen and two mayors, 21 union chairmen and their elected members are working for us. We are getting very positive response from the voters. We will win."
Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Mohamed Jahedur Rahman said, election officers are being trained up at the field level; and law-enforcing agencies are alert for conducting credible election.
