Director Monir Hossain Jibon passes away

Monir Hossain Jibon, director of popular BTV serial drama ‘Aaj Robibar’, passed away.

He breathed his last at the National Institute of Neurosciences Hospital in Agargaon of the capital at around 12:53am, said Kamruzzaman Shagor, general secretary of Director's Guild of Bangladesh.

Monir Hossain suffered a brain stroke at night and was immediately admitted to the hospital. But the doctors on duty could not save him despite their last efforts.

His body was placed at the Shilpakala Academy premises at 10am for public homage. Following this, his first namaz-e-janaza took place there at 11am.
After the first Janaza, his body will be laid to rest in the family graveyard at his hometown in Monohardi Upazila, Narsingdi district.

Monir Hossain worked as the assistant director in Humayun Ahmed's movie 'Aguner Parashmoni'. Later, he worked as the first lead assistant director in the drama 'Nokkhatrer Raat'. Monir made his debut as a director in the TV media with the drama 'Aaj Robibar'. After that he produced many plays.
In 2000, Monir Hossain Jibon founded his own production company, ‘Shadhin Cholchitro’.

He produced numerous solo dramas -- Shada Kagoj, Korban Alir Qurban, Bonnyar Chokhe Jol, from his production company.

Apart from this, he has produced telefilms, serial dramas, documentaries, short films and commercials.
