Linguist Dr Mahbubul Haque passes away

Ekushey Padak and Bangla Academy Award-winning linguist, educationist and essayist Prof Dr Mahbubul Haque passed away at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) early Thursday.

He breathed his last around 1:45am while undergoing treatment at the hospital in Dhaka.
He had been suffering from heart and kidney diseases for a long time, said Prokash Das Gupta, assistant professor of Bangla Department at Chattogram University.

Mahbubul Haque's body will be taken to his Bhatara residence in the capital from the hospital on Thursday noon. From there, his body will be taken to Chattogram after a namaz-e-janaza. He will be buried at his family graveyard there.

Dr Mahbubul was born in Faridpur's Madhukhali upazila on November 3, 1948.
