Elderly man stabbed dead in Noakhali

An elderly man was stabbed to death reportedly by neighbours over a previous enmity at Hatiya upazila in Noakhali district on  Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam, 70, son of Montajul Karim, a resident of Sukhchar village under ward no. 9 under Jahajmara union of the upazila.

The deceased grandson Abdur Rahim said there was a dispute between their family and the neighbour's family over a divorce of his uncle. Following this, the neighbours intercepted Abul Kalam when he was returning home after finishing his work at field and stabbed him indicriminately. 

He was rescued and succumbed to his injuries while being taken to nearby upazila health complex.

Hatiya Police Station officer-in-charge Jisan Ahmed confirmed the matter, adding that they have recovered the body and sent to Noakhali General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Moreover, police have arrested two suspects and a case was being filed in this regard, added the OC.
