Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) chairman Md Sohorab Hossain has resigned from his position.

On Tuesday, he tendered his resignation letter to the PSC secretary.
Along with the chairman, 12 of the PSC members also resigned. However, two members did not resign, and they could not be contacted as their phones were found switched off.

Their resignation letters will be sent to the president for approval.

In a post on his Facebook page on Saturday, Sarjis Alam, a coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, spoke about reforming the PSC.

He said the recruitment exams for job seekers must begin this week, following the necessary reforms.

He also said that the demands of the youth leading this uprising must not be ignored.

Following the fall of the Awami League government in the student-led mass uprising, demands were raised for the resignation of entire commission including the PSC chairman. The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement coordinators have been demanding reform of the PSC over the last several days.

PSC sources said the resigning members were former senior secretary Md Faiz Ahmed, neurologist Dr Uttam Kumar Saha, former executive director Zahid ur Rashid, Prof Dr Mubina Khondker, Prof Dr Delwar Hossain, former senior secretary KM Ali Azam, former secretary Khalilur Rahman, former director general of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education Prof Syed Md Ghulam Faruk, former senior secretary Maksudur Rahman Patwary, former secretary Mosammat Nazmanara Khanum, ON Siddiqa Khanam and Rajshahi University's professor Pradip Kumar Pandey.

However, two PSC members have yet to resign. They are former senior secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed and former Additional IGP Md Shafiqul Islam.
