IU student commits suicide

A student of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Manikganj on Tuesday, leaving behind a suicide note. 

The deceased Adnan Ferdaus, was enrolled in the 2020-21 session of the Tourism and Hospitality Management department of the university.

Adnan was initially admitted to the Folklore Studies department in the 2018-19 session but later switched to Tourism and Hospitality Management in the 2019-20 session. Due to some academic setbacks, he re-enrolled in the 2020-21 session.

Confirming the death news, Adnan's Ismail Hossain said, "Adnan had been struggling with mental health issues and staying at home for the past 4-5 months while contemplating studying abroad. He was undergoing treatment and ended up with the incident."

Assistant Professor Shoriful Islam, chairman of the Tourism and Hospitality Management department, expressed deep sorrow over Adnan's death.
