Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) has decided to conduct a separate admission test for the academic year 2024-25, departing from the engineering cluster admission system.
The decision follows the announcement by Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) to hold its own independent admission test.
RUET's Academic Council initially made this decision in a meeting on November 13, presided over by Vice-Chancellor Professor S.M. Abdur Razzak. A final decision and the admission notice will be issued soon.
With KUET's withdrawal from the cluster, the future of the joint admission system for CUET, KUET, and RUET has become uncertain. RUET's Academic Council discussed this development and expressed dissatisfaction over KUET’s independent move, which was made without prior consultation.
If the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) also opts for an independent test, RUET will follow suit, conducting its admission exam solely in Rajshahi. Acting Registrar Arif Ahmad confirmed that RUET is prepared to hold a separate test if necessary.
Vice-Chancellor Professor S.M. Abdur Razzak stated that a final decision will be taken in the next Academic Council meeting on November 27, after which the official admission notice will be released.
