IU celebrates Victory Day with festivities and tributes

The Islamic University (IU) authority in Kushtia observed Victory Day on Monday amid festive mood-fanfare and paying tributes to the war heroes.

Marking the day, the national and university flag was raised by university Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah, and Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr M Yeaqub Ali with guard of honor by university BNCC and Rover Scout. The VC Dr Nasrullah inaugurated the victory day ceremony by flying the ‘Balloon’ in the sky, symbol of joyousness, along with its Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Yeaqub and treasurer Dr Jahangir Alam.  

Later, a colorful procession was brought out led by its VC, along with its Pro-VC treasurer. University theology faculty dean Professor Dr ABM Siddiqur Rahman Asrafi, proctor Professor Dr Shahinuzzaman, student advisor Professor Dr Obayedul Islama, ICT Cell Director Professor Dr Shahjahan Ali, TSCC director Professor Dr Zakir Hossain, IIER director Professor Dr Iqbal Hossain, Professor Dr Nozibul Haque, Al-Quran and Islamic Studies department chairman Professor Dr Nasir Uddin Mizhy, IU anti-discrimination student movement coordinator SM Sweet, Shibir unit president HM Abu Musa, Chhatra Dal convener Shahed Ahmed were present at the joyous rally. More than one thousand students, teachers, Officers, staff from various departments also took part in the procession.

Followed by the rally, University authority led by the Vice-Chancellor placed a floral wreath at the ‘Mukto Bangla’ while Pro-VC, treasurer was present.  Later, teachers’ organizations, halls, departments and social-cultural organizations placed floral wreaths there.

Islamic University Journalist's Association, Islamic University Press Club also showed gratitude to the martyrs by placing floral wreaths.

Later, the university authority marched to the foundation stone and laid a floral wreath there. The observance concluded with a moment of silence and a munajaat led by an imam of the university central mosque.

Regarding the day, University was decorated with lights and banner festoons commemorating July-August uprising. Friendly Volleyball matches were also organized among teachers, officers, students and staff.
