Sylhet Strikers dominate with 205 against Rangpur Riders

The Sylhet phase of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) kicked off in grand fashion on Monday, with Sylhet Strikers putting up an impressive total of 205 runs against Rangpur Riders.

Powered by standout performances from local talents Zakir Hasan and Jaker Ali, alongside contributions from Rony Talukdar and Aaron Jones, the Strikers thrilled their home crowd at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Opting to field first, the Rangpur Riders were immediately put under pressure as Sylhet�s openers built a solid foundation. George Munsey and Rony Talukdar added 47 runs in just five overs before Munsey departed for 18. Talukdar kept the scoreboard ticking with a scintillating 54 off 32 balls, smashing seven boundaries and three towering sixes.

Zakir Hasan, batting at number three, anchored the innings with a measured 50 off 38 balls, clearing the ropes four times. His partnership with Talukdar set the stage for Sylhet's late onslaught.

The fireworks came in the final overs, where Sylhet amassed 74 runs in the last five. Aaron Jones contributed a quickfire 38, while Jaker Ali hammered 20 off just five deliveries, including four massive sixes in the final over off Akif Javed.

Among the Rangpur bowlers, Mohammad Saifuddin stood out, picking up two wickets, but the rest of the attack struggled to contain Sylhet's relentless batting.
