Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Nepal’s Foreign Minister Bala Nanda Sharma on Wednesday paid courtesy calls on Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna, according to Chief Adviser’s Press Wing.

The meetings took place following their visits to Dhaka to attend the funeral of three-time former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, who passed away on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq handed over Islamabad’s condolence message to BNP Acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, reflecting Pakistan’s deep respect for the late Bangladeshi leader.

The condolence message was formally conveyed ahead of Khaleda Zia’s namaz-e-janaza held at Manik Mia Avenue.

The Pakistani Speaker arrived in Dhaka earlier on Wednesday to attend the funeral on behalf of the Government of Pakistan.

Nepal’s Foreign Minister Bala Nanda Sharma, who arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday night, also joined the funeral proceedings representing his government before calling on the Chief Adviser later in the day.

Foreign dignitaries from neighbouring and regional countries attended the state funeral as Bangladesh observed national mourning for Begum Khaleda Zia, a three-time prime minister and one of the country’s most prominent political leaders.
