The Dhaka Capitals finally broke their losing streak in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025 with a resounding 149-run victory over Durbar Rajshahi, thanks to a record-breaking partnership by openers Litton Das and Tanzid Tamim.

After months of struggling with poor form, including a string of disappointing performances in white-ball cricket since the 2023 ODI World Cup, Litton Das delivered a stunning comeback. Just hours after being dropped from Bangladesh's Champions Trophy squad, Litton silenced critics with a scintillating 125 off 55 balls, featuring 10 fours and 9 sixes. He reached his century in just 43 balls, marking a remarkable turnaround in his fortunes.

Tanzid Tamim joined the party with an equally brilliant 108 off 64 balls, laced with 6 fours and 8 sixes. Together, the duo created history with a 241-run opening stand—the highest partnership in BPL history—surpassing the 201-run record set by Brendon McCullum and Chris Gayle for Rangpur Riders in 2017.

Their explosive partnership propelled Dhaka Capitals to a mammoth 254/1 in 20 overs, setting a new record for the highest team total in BPL history. The previous record of 239 runs was jointly held by Rangpur Riders (2019) and Comilla Victorians (2024).

Durbar Rajshahi, chasing an uphill target, collapsed under pressure and managed only 105 runs in response. The emphatic win not only ended Dhaka’s six-match losing streak but also offered a glimpse of the team’s potential when their top order fires.
