One dies in Pirojpur trawler capsize  

PIROJPUR, Dec 30:  A person died as a trawler capsized in Shanda River at Kourikhara village in Nesarabad (Swarupkati) upazila of Pirojpur district on Friday.
The victim was identified as Shahidul Islam, 50, son of late Abul Kalam of Kourikhara village under the upazila in the district.
The Swarupkati-bound trawler with 30-35 passengers on board sank in the canal around 7:30 am following a collision with another wood-laden trawler, said Monirul Islam Monir, officer-in-charge of Nesarabad Police Station.
All but Shahidul managed to swim ashore, he said. On information, divers from Barisal rushed in to rescue the missing person, said OC. Later, Shahidul's dead body was recovered from the river.  The killer trawler is under police custody. A case was filed in this connection.
