Shimulia-Kawrakandi ferry services disrupted

Munshiganj: Ferry Services on Shimulia-Kawrakandi route in the Padma river has been disrupted following dense fog.

Giasuddin Patwari, manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Shimulia, said the authorities has suspended ferry services on the route since 3:30am on Saturday due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.

Nine ferries stayed motionless in the middle of the river.

Passengers suffered most as around 100 vehicles had to be kept waiting on both sides of the river.
