Bullet targeting AL leader kills woman in Khulna

Khulna: Masked gunman fired at an Awami League leader but mistakenly shot and killed a woman at Dolkhola in Sadar upazila on Saturday. 

Khulna Metropolitan AL publicity secretary ZA Mahmud Don claimed that miscreants targeted him. But, the bullet missed the target and truck the woman, he added.

The dead was identified as Shipra Rani Kundu, 50, wife of retired bank officer Chitta Ranjan Kundu.

Witnesses said some gun-trotting goons riding on three motorcycles opened fired at Don, also a ward 27 councilor of Khulna City Corporation, when he was holding a meeting in the area around 10:45am.

But bullet hit Shipra when as just she came out of a temple that left her critically injured.

Shipra was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital where she died later.

Don said, the miscreants are listed criminals.
