CA calls emergency meeting over 7-college issue

Chief Adviser (CA) Dr. Muhammad Yunus has convened an emergency meeting to address the ongoing situation involving the seven affiliated colleges. 

The meeting began on Tuesday evening at the state guesthouse Jamuna, according to sources from the Chief Adviser�s Office.  

The meeting is being attended by the Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC), Professor S.M.A. Fayez, and the Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU), Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan.  

The unrest surrounding the seven colleges escalated after allegations of "misconduct" were made against Dhaka University's Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education), Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed. The allegations surfaced when representatives of the seven colleges met with him last Sunday afternoon to discuss various unresolved issues.  

Following the incident, agitated students blocked the Science Lab and Technical intersections in Dhaka on Sunday evening in protest. Later that night, around 11 PM, the students attempted to march towards the residence of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor at Dhaka University, but were confronted by DU students at Nilkhet intersection. This led to clashes involving chasing and counter-chasing between the two groups.  

On Monday, during a meeting between the Dhaka University administration and the principals of the seven colleges, a decision was made to revoke the colleges� affiliation with Dhaka University.  

The Chief Adviser�s emergency meeting aims to find a resolution to the mounting tensions and restore order to the situation. Further updates are expected following the discussions.
