Ships carrying rice from Myanmar and India arrive at Ctg, Mongla ports

Two vessels carrying a combined total of 30,500 tonnes of rice from Myanmar and India have reached Chattogram and Mongla ports.

A press release issued by the Food Ministry confirmed the information on Friday.  

The ship MV PTV AROMA, loaded with 23,000 tonnes of rice from Myanmar, arrived at Chattogram port. This shipment was part of a government-to-government (G2G) agreement between the two countries. 

Simultaneously, the MV ALPHA, transporting 7,500 tonnes of rice from India, docked at Mongla port. The rice from India was imported through an open tender process.  

Authorities have taken necessary steps to ensure the swift unloading of the cargo to meet domestic demand and maintain market stability. 

Additionally, two more ships carrying 8,500 tonnes and 10,000 tonnes of rice from India are expected to arrive at Mongla port on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. These shipments were also secured through open tenders.
